Client Journey

Ring Resizing

Whether it’s a treasured heirloom, an engagement ring, or simply a piece that no longer fits quite right, ring resizing is a delicate process that restores both comfort and wearability without compromising the design. At the hands of experienced goldsmith Michael, each resizing is approached with care, precision, and respect for the original craftsmanship. From assessing the ring’s structure to seamlessly adjusting its size and finish, every step is thoughtfully executed to ensure the final result looks—and feels—just right.

Consultation & Design

The first step in resizing a ring begins with a thorough assessment of the piece. Michael carefully examined the ring’s design, metal type, and any gemstones to determine the best approach for resizing without compromising its structure or aesthetic. Whether the ring needed to be made larger or smaller, understanding the original craftsmanship was essential. He measured the client’s finger precisely, ensuring a perfect fit, and marked the area of the band that would be adjusted. Special attention was given to preserving engravings, patterns, or settings, especially in more intricate designs, before any cutting or reshaping began.

Design & Mould

With the ring assessed and marked, Michael proceeded to carefully cut the band at the designated point. If the ring was being made smaller, a small section of the metal was precisely removed; if it was being made larger, he prepared to insert an additional piece of matching gold. This stage demanded accuracy and a steady hand to ensure the ring maintained its circular shape and the join would be seamless. The open ends were then brought together (or spaced appropriately for enlargement), aligned perfectly, and prepared for soldering, setting the foundation for a strong and nearly invisible bond.

Finished Piece

Once the ring was soldered and the join securely set, Michael moved on to refining and finishing the piece. He carefully filed and smoothed the soldered area to ensure the band was completely seamless, restoring its original shape and feel. The ring was then polished to a high shine, matching the finish across the entire surface so that no sign of alteration remained. If the ring featured stones, Michael also inspected and secured each setting to ensure nothing had been affected during the resizing. The result was a perfectly fitted ring, returned to the client looking as flawless as ever—only now, it fit like it was always meant to.
