Diamond & Sapphire CAD Bubble Ring

This case study explores the creation of a custom diamond and sapphire bubble ring, designed and perfected using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) technology. Inspired by the playful elegance of clustered gemstones, the design required precise digital modelling to achieve a balanced arrangement of diamonds and sapphires in varying sizes. By combining creative artistry with engineering accuracy, the process transformed a modern, whimsical concept into a wearable statement piece that radiates both colour and sparkle.

Consultation & Design

The project began with a creative consultation to capture the client’s vision of a “bubble” design, blending diamonds and sapphires in a playful yet elegant arrangement. The design brief defined gemstone sizes, colour distribution, and the desired organic flow of the piece, setting the foundation for the ring’s unique aesthetic.

Design & Mould

Using CAD software, the ring’s clustered layout was precisely mapped to achieve a harmonious balance between stone sizes and colours. Adjustments were made to prong positions, spacing, and overall structure to ensure durability while preserving the light, floating appearance of the design. Multiple digital iterations refined the layout to perfection.

Finished Piece

The finalized CAD model was brought to life through precision casting. Expert jewellers carefully set each diamond and sapphire, ensuring secure placement and flawless alignment. The ring was then hand-polished to enhance its brilliance, resulting in a vibrant, one-of-a-kind piece that captured the essence of the original “bubble” concept.
